The
CD I'm Patricia Tortorici. I’ve just recorded my first CD of original music, New York Story. For the past 10 years I have fronted my own R&B band, Patty T's Blue Revue been the featured singer with the American Tap Dance Orchestra, The Khatak Ensemble and have worked with the a cappella group Doo Wa Zoo. I have played throughout the U.S. and Europe. Because of the varied styles of these groups, I have had the opportunity to sing, rock, blues, pop, folk, country and jazz. New York Story encompasses all of these styles and, though eclectic in its variety, holds together as a concept bringing to the fore what I believe to be the essence of any artistic endeavor - If you believe in what you do, are prepared and honest in your efforts you can do anything. I have had the good fortune of working with many great musicians on this project and in live performance. Bassist Gary Kelly has been playing with me since I started Patty T’s Blue Revue over 10 years ago. He has co-produced and engineered this CD and has co-written three of the songs. Gary has played with the Mama’s and Papa’s, Bill Frissell and Mike Stern, to name a few. His 6 stringed fretless bass adds to his proficient and intuitive playing style. Drummer Michael Lauren co-founded the prestigious Drummer’s Collective in New York City, has performed and/or recorded with Bobby Radcliff, Chuck Berry and Bill Frissell and many others. Guitarist Mike Hogan has toured with Regina Belle. |
Percussionist Rex Benincasa has played with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Pilar Rioja dance company and has recorded with Philip Glass and others. Sarangi player Ramesh Misra is one of the most prominent sarangi players in India and has recorded with Aerosmith and other American groups in a variety of styles. Russ Johnson who plays trumpet and flugelhorn has played and/or recorded with Stan Getz, the Jazz Passengers. His own group, The Other Quartet records on the Knitting Factory label. River (Alex) Tobias who plays fiddle was a long time member of the Irish Rock band The Prodigals. Pianist Bob Quaranta has performed and/or recorded with the Ed Palermo Big Band, Mongo Stantamaria, Willie Colon, John Scofield and others. I am extremely fortunate to be able to play with such talented musicians and, more than that, I have been blessed that they have supported me and believed in this first endeavor. It’s a blast playing with these guys. We have a really great time and so does the audience. I hope that you enjoy this collection of new songs and that they make you smile or cry or laugh or just tap your toe. Peace, Pat Tortorici |
