From The Subway to the Stage – Sassy Street Performers do it “Live” with no Lip-Sync

Urban Alternative adventurism ranging from Rock, Soul, Acoustic and Latin, can be heard on the NYC subway platforms from MTA “Music Under NY” featured performer NICOLA (seen last Sat. 10/23 on NBC News).  Now here’s a chance to catch her on stage with the full band at the party & release of their sophomore album “What’s The Point”.  Nicola holds the headline spot with special guest appearances from percussionist Ben Arocho (James Brown) & Reina De La Cruz (Eddie Torres Dancers).  The best night to catch the best music you never heard.

Red Light Party
Saturdays @ 10pm-Late
Southside Lounge

Weekly event happening every Saturday featuring some of the funkiest DJ's in Brooklyn to spin! The Red Light Party is a celebration of the 70's basement party vibe. Classic Soul, Hard Funk, Acid Rock, Old Old Old School Hip Hop (pre-1980), and Vintage Breaks to dance, drink, and make out to.No Cover.

What is a red light party? Ok, you are a teenager. It is sometime in the decade in-between 1970 and 1980. You live in a major metropolitan area. It is friday night and your parents have gone out of town. You decide to have a party. You drag your stereo down to the basement. You unscrew all the light bulbs and replace them with red ones. You call up all of your friends. Someone brings over a big stack of battered LP's. Someone else grabs their older sister's collection of 45's. Of course someone else is sent out to the deli to buy the beer. All your friends (and alot of people you don't know) all crowd into your parent's basement. The night progresses. Beer is spilled all over your parent's rug. The smell of cheap marijuana (and possibly angel dust) fills the room. Someone pukes all over your parent's best chair. Your best friend disappears into the bathroom with a rather ugly girl and they stay in there for 45 minutes. You wake up the next day at 6am. The red lights are still on. A record is still spinning on the turntable. You have a splitting headache, the basement looks like a warzone, and your parents are coming home in 5 hours. That is a red light party.

Coming In Yo Face: Oct 25- DJ Arthur of The Twisted Ones (1/2 of the duo that put on some of the best loft shows of the last 5 years)
