Erica is a senior at Columbia. She likes working at 1020 because it has a local bar feel and lots of regulars. Erica is a philosophy major -- so she "should get used to bartending." :) She is also fascinated by Kant. She sometimes works on Fridays and/or Saturday nights in addition to the Tuesday on which we caught her.
During the week,1020 attracts an intellectual crowd of partiers and pool players, many of whom are Columbia grad students -- studying philosophy, english, languages, etc. There aren't really a lot of business student types. Some of the regulars are Columbia alumni who stuck around the neighborhood because of the great rents, great bars, and to be close their friends. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, however, there are a lot of undergrads, so it is a younger wilder crowd.
